Workplace health
How are you feeling? Do you feel happy and content? Do you enjoy your work or is it grinding you down?
You might relate to the words of Lenedra J Carroll: "Life has become a maelstrom in which speed and accomplishment, consumption and productivity have become the most valued human commodities.
In the trance of overwork, we take everything for granted. We consume things, people and information. We do not have time to savour this life, nor to care deeply and gently for ourselves, our loved ones, or our world, rather with increasingly dizzying haste, we use them all up and throw them away ...
And what about work/life balance? How big a part does work play in your life - does it define you? Is it the right work for you?
We all know when things aren't right or when we're 'doing too much'. The important thing is to recognise it in yourself and in your colleagues and to do something about it.
I've made a decision NOT to focus on STRESS but to focus on POSITIVE HEALTH AND VITALITY because I believe that what you focus on, appears in your experience.
There are a number of treatments that are ideal to offer in the workplace. Apart from the health benefits, they help to promote enthusiasm amongst employees and generate an atmosphere of care and respect. Please call or email me for more information.
We have a team of local health professionals bringing their expertise into the workplace, including: yoga, homeopathy, nutrition, massage and meditation.
Some thoughts to be going on with:
Calm down and slow down. Take some time for yourself. Get in tune with your body so that you become aware of any health problems early on. Listen to the whispers before they become shouts! Trust the body's own natural process of healing and don't look for a quick fix. Allow yourself time out from your routine.
Just as health problems occur over time in the body, allow your body time to put them right. If you can make one small change to your routine - make your first drink of the day a hot water with a slice of lemon - before you start on tea or coffee. This acts as a tonic for the liver, aids digestion and has a very calming effect on the whole body.
If you would like to try some massage taster sessions at work, perhaps over a lunch-time or inbetween work shifts, contact me and I will happily arrange it for you.
I'll leave you with another perspective ....
Alberto Villoldo 'Courageous Dreaming' "We measure ourselves by our achievements and productivity instead of focussing on our emotional and spiritual growth and enjoying the process of learning, discovering and maturing. We don't allow ourselves to think about whether the one particular lifestyle we've talked ourselves into is making us happy, or whether something radically different might be more fulfilling for us."
If you're having trouble sleeping or relaxing in general, I would recommend John Levine's
