Join to learn how to use creativity and the arts as tools of self-care\, social interaction\, and lifelong learning. Atlantic Center for the Arts artist ambassadors will share fun\, simple activities you can easily duplicate in your home with loved ones. Each session is in person and open to pairs: a caregiver and their care partner (CNA/HHA are also welcome). This program is helpful for caregivers of elders navigating the stages of dementia\, Parkinson’s disease\, and/or mental stability. \nTo warm your body and soul\, we will also be serving a light lunch of soup and fresh bread from the Nourish Coffee Bar + Kitchen\, the Center for Health & Wellbeing’s casual dining restaurant. \nSpecial Instructions: All supplies for this program\, including drawing and painting tools and your own sketchbook to keep\, will be provided. Because you will be painting and/or collaging\, please wear appropriate clothing that may get messy. \nAbout the Presenter \nBethany Bennett is an interdisciplinary artist who earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Central Florida and her Master of Fine Arts from Lesley University in Cambridge\, Massachusetts. The artwork she produces questions women’s equality and role in society. Her investment in the community is to boost their confidence and self-worth through artistic practices. Currently\, she is a professor at Daytona State College and leads community outreach at Atlantic Center for the Arts. \nAward winning poet Sonja Jean Craig\, Secretary of Florida State Poets Association\, has been certified by Florida State Poets Association for completion of the Twelve Chairs Poetry Course. She is published in several anthologies including Isolation Challenge\, FSPA’s Cadence\, Fresh Fish\, Poetic Visions and FWA’s Collection. Her guidance cards\, A Love Affair with Life\, includes her poetry and photographs.
