They can be very therapeutic because you are literally bathed in sound waves\, where you will enter a state of deep relaxation. Sound baths help facilitate shifts in our brainwaves by using entrainment. Entrainment synchronizes our brainwaves by providing a stable frequency which the brainwaves can attune to. By listening to the rhythm and frequencies of the crystal bowls\, we can downshift our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness) and even reach theta (meditative state) where profound learning\, healing and growth can occur. \nThis sound healing experience is designed to clear and release negative energy\, open your heart\, and promote a quieter state of mind. The harmonious sounds are created to support your body’s natural healing processes while you recline on blankets and pillows. After the session\, you’ll leave feeling mentally and physically rested\, ready to enjoy the peace and tranquility of a healthy mind\, body and spirit. \nSpecial Instructions: Attendees can sit in a chair or on the floor for this program. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat\, towel\, or small blanket; chairs will be available for those who prefer to use one. The room can also be cool during this program\, so cold-sensitive participants may also want to bring a light jacket or sweater. Traditional farming practices and the excessive use of chemical fertilizers is destroying our soil\, water\, and biodiversity. By reverting to regenerative farming practices\, we can work to reverse climate change and improve our agricultural output. Topsoil is an amazing carbon sink\, and natural water filter. In this meeting we will be learning about its complex nature and how investing in regenerative practices locally and nationally\, we can actively reverse the environmental degradation. \n Special Note: Learning\, engaging\, and finding solutions. The monthly IDEAS Hive meetings allow experts from several different topics to educate you on environmental issues before inviting you to produce your own local solutions. \nThis program is presented by Wae Nelson and hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation in collaboration with IDEAS For Us. \n About the Program Presenters \nWae Nelson\, along with his wife Kathy\, founded Florida Gardening Magazine in 1995 and successfully published it for 20 years. They finally sold it in 2014 and retired. Wae always had a love for the soil\, and had become very concerned by how fast it was being destroyed\, so he started looking for methods to slow this trend down. This resulted in a TEDX presentation intended as an introduction to biochar. Then he learned about regenerative agriculture and was hooked. Regen Ag is the result of very recent research\, much of it being conducted in the last 10 years\, and looks at ag in a whole new way. This new perspective has resulted in eliminating the need for fertilizer\, herbicides\, and insecticides while increasing yields. He now spends his time “getting the word out”. \nAbout the Presenting Organization \nIDEAS For Us brings in experts on environmental topics and allows them to educate our audience\, equipping them with the knowledge they need to make innovative solutions to climate change. They then engage the audience in a conversation about how to solve these issues with localized action. With Judy Minear\, a projective dream work expert\, you’ll unpack the symbolic language of the “theater of the night”.\n\n\nA note about this program series: After registering for the first class in this four-part series\, attendees are expected to attend all four sessions (February 2\, 9\, 16\, 23) in order to gain the most out of this program. If you cannot attend all four sessions\, please allow someone else to register for this limited-capacity program. \nAre you puzzled by your dreams? With Judy Minear\, a projective dream work expert with almost a decade of experience in dream group facilitation\, you’ll unpack the symbolic language of the “theater of the night.” Over the course of four group sessions\, you will build on the basic tenet that all dreams come in the service of health and wholeness. As you mine the wisdom expressed in your dreams\, you’ll build a better relationship with yourself and others. Dreams offer guidance\, clues\, inspiration and multiple meanings. The group process provides a supportive path to unearth the clues from our own unconscious. \nIn this series\, you can expect to learn: \n• How to improve dream recall \n• Two methods of working a dream \n• How to tap into the depths of symbols \nProgram notes: Please bring notes about a recent dream to class\, even if it is a fragment. The class is based on the seminal work of Jeremy Taylor. His book “The Wisdom of Your Dreams” is helpful but not necessary. \nThis program is presented by Judy Minear and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nAbout Your Program Presenter \nJudy Minear has participated in Dream groups for over 20 years. She attended the annual Haden Summer Dream Conference for seven years. She has been the current facilitator for an ongoing dream group for seven years. She studied with Jeremy Taylor as well as others who have been instrumental in the International Association for the Study of Dreams. She credits her curiosity for her deep interest in dreams. Unpacking dream symbols and working with shadows feels like a calling to her. After multiple experiences in Egypt\, she developed an active interest in the mysteries. She has offered this class at the Rollins STARS venue as well as the Winter Park Library. She brings a deep understanding as well as a warmth and a sense of humor to the process of Projective Dream Work. All attendees are also encouraged to bring their own bottles of water. \nThis program is presented by Camille Sacco and hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation. \nAbout the Program Presenter \nCamille Sacco is an American Institute of Health Care Professionals Mindfulness Coach and meditation instructor. What if you learned science-based techniques you could use to modify your physiology as you moved through the day? How much better would you feel as you arrived in the evening? \nConscious and intentional breath and movement are the fastest ways to pull ourselves back and reenergize the mind and body. In this program\, led by Crosby Wellness Center group fitness instructor Alan Zemel\, a certified Oxygen Advantage Functional Breathing coach with the Oxygen Research Institute\, you’ll learn techniques to consciously modify the breath and move the body that are scientifically proven to bring inner peace and relaxation. Exercises will be taught explaining the science behind many topics such as vagal tone\, heart rate variability\, the blood O2/CO2 balance\, and other physiologic processes of the relaxation response that you can control. Experience first-hand how intentional focused functional breathing and synchronized movement can bring peace and wellbeing to the mind and body. \nThis winter\, we invite you to join Zemel for this workshop on the second Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. for a program that has the power to dramatically change the way you approach each day. \nThis program is presented by Alan Zemel and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation in partnership with the Crosby Wellness Center. \nAbout the Program Presenter \nAlan Zemel is a Senior Teacher-Trainer with The Healer Within Foundation and the Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi (IIQTC). In 2009\, he created his first concept\, 4 Rivers Smokehouse\, which quickly became one of the fastest-growing restaurants in the Southeast. Since then\, the 4 Rivers business has grown to 22 locations in Florida\, including Rivers’ other concepts\, the Southern-inspired The COOP\, the Cantina Barbacoa Food Truck at Disney Springs and the farm-to-table 4Roots Café. 4 Rivers garnered national recognition\, including the title of “The South’s Best BBQ” by Southern Living magazine and the “#1 BBQ Chain” by MSN. \nBorn out of Rivers’ garage\, the “barbeque ministry” remains at the heart of the company’s mission to lift up those in need and help build better communities. The culmination of the 4R Foundation’s work\, the Orlando-based 4Roots Farm\, will serve as a community campus to inspire revolutionary change in Florida’s food system through education on sustainable and regenerative farming\, advancements in agriculture technology and research in culinary medicine via the launch of the Culinary Health Institute. \nAuthor of The Southern Cowboy Cookbook\, Rivers has been named one of the Restaurant Business magazine’s “The Power 20” elite leaders\, Restaurateur of the Year by Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association and Orlando Magazine’s “50 Most Powerful: 15 to Watch.” He has cooked at the prestigious James Beard House in New York City\, and was twice named a finalist for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award. She received her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and subsequently went on to complete a residency in internal medicine at Tufts-New England Medical Center. She then completed a cardiology fellowship at the University of Maryland. Dr. Aggarwal’s own path to understanding the impact of nutrition in illness started soon after the birth of her third child\, when she developed an advanced form of rheumatoid arthritis. She was placed on medications that gave her severe side effects. It was only through learning about the microbiome (gut)\, its impact on the immune system and the role of nutrition in affecting the gut\, was she able to truly heal. Determined to change the face of medicine\, she left private practice and returned to academics in order to pursue research on the role of diet and to create an integrative cardiology practice focused on nutrition and lifestyle. \nDr. Aggarwal gives talks around the community and the country. She was named a “Next Generation Innovator” by Cardiology Today. Board certified in cardiology\, echocardiography\, nuclear cardiology and advanced cholesterol management\, she is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology (ACC)\, where she is a member of the nutrition council working on nutrition policies for the nation.
