Your Health and Well-being
Is it my imagination or does life seem to be speeding up? Carl Honore in his book 'In Praise of Slow' says: "Our culture teaches us that faster is better but in the race to keep up, everything suffers and anyone or anything that slows us down becomes the enemy".
Stress is a frequently used word - - we've all felt the effects of it but we don't always know how to respond to it.
REFLEXOLOGY, INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE and REIKI are all deeply relaxing therapies which are not only helping people with the effects of stress but also with most common ailments. Reflexology can be used to treat migraines, digestive disorders, sinus congestion and back conditions. It can also help to manage such things as panic attacks, bereavement and insomnia.
However you choose to live your life, your health and well-being is of paramount importance. When you are feeling good, you are able to support and inspire those around you - you are in a state of ease. When you are feeling stressed or unhappy, you are in a state of dis-ease. Complementary therapies encourage health promotion rather than disease management.
Complementary therapies and alternative medicine are now used by 1 in 5 of the UK population. According to the British Medical Association (BMA), 58 per cent of the UK's 39,500 GPs will happily arrange for you to see a complementary therapist, and some are even learning to provide alternative treatments themselves. Additionally, a third of cancer patients seek alternative treatment during their illness.
Most complementary therapies are not new - they have been used for thousands of years. It's only in recent years, in the UK, that we are rediscovering them again and the wonderful alternative they can offer us to high doses of painkillers and medication.
The world of complementary health can be daunting. Where do I find a qualified therapist? Which therapy is right for my condition? On this web site I have endeavoured to give some basic information to give you a starting point on your road to better health and well-being.
